My apologies for the lack of posts this week. Preparing for our family vacation has been a bit more hectic than I expected {but so worth it!}.

I find black and white photographs to be very elegant and pure. You are immediately drawn into the photo and can appreciate all of the details without the distraction of color.
Photographer Dave Beckerman, has quite an extensive collection of B&W photos, mostly of New York, that are quite lovely.

It was obvious to see designer John Galliano’s inspiration behind the Christian Dior Spring Couture Collection – the Dutch Masters. A few of the pieces also featured beautiful blue and white “delftware” embroidery – a signature Dutch design influence.

As the blog world continues to lament the demise of our beloved, Domino Magazine, we went on an international search to find some alternatives to fill the design void come April.
It’s time to brush up on your highschool German {or just use translate.google} because the online site of the German magazine, Wohn Idee is fantastic. Wohn Idee “specializes in providing practical and affordable design ideas for young people, families with children and those starting over in new surroundings.” And if you thought German design was austere, cold and ultra modern – you are in for a surprise!
The site is literally popping with eye-catching decor, DIY projects, before and after photo shoots and hands-on examples of how to incorporate color into your home through the use of flowers, accessories and of course, paint.
Bright Colors and contemporary designs are evident throughout the site. Last spring, decor8 posted a series of interiors from the magazine – you can view them here.
Like Domino, you are presented with creative and interesting uses for everyday objects. You can confidently incorporate these into your own design scheme.
The magazine also does a fine job of presenting multiple “proposals” for design dilemmas such as lack of storage, boring bedrooms, small bathrooms, cluttered offices, etc.
One of our favorite areas on the site is devoted to flower arrangements that are based on season and colors. Utilizing inexpensive vases {Ikea} and your existing serving pieces, you can create some stunning flower arrangements with minimal effort.
The extensive seasonal entertainment sections features tablescapes, recipes and more. How adorably simple are these fruit place cards?
We realize that viewing a magazine online will never truly replace the pleasure you get from reading an actual magazine – but its a start.

We don’t need to be influenced by celebrities {or non-celebrities} to spot a really great bag. Sleek and edgy, black patent leather provides a thoroughly modern look for day and night. We also believe you don’t need to spend more than a mortgage payment to own a fabulous bag.
The black patent leather pleated satchel that we found can double as an everyday purse and a fun weekend bag. There is more than enough room to carry your work essentials and it also makes the perfect carry-on bag {would make a very chic diaper bag too!}. The nickel hardware and houndstooth lining add a sophisticated touch.
I’ve recently converted to a “big” bag and I love it.
